Bengaluru: Vijay Hazare Trophy Cricket Sanju Samson has performed well in the tournament. After getting a place in the Indian ODI squad for the tour of South Africa, Sanju shone with a century innings. When the forward line failed, Sanju, batting at number five, brought out the 121 runs off 136 balls. But Sanju's innings could not save Kerala. Kerala lost to Railways by 18 runs in the last match of the group stage. This is Kerala's second defeat in the group stage. Kerala had already reached the knockout round with five wins. Kerala won the toss and elected to bowl in the match held at Kini Sports Arena ground in Bengaluru. Railways scored 255 runs for the loss of five wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Batting in reply, Kerala could only score 237 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs.
In the first phase, Kerala's batsmen were seen faltering. Along with Sanju's performance, Shreyas Gopal's half-century was a consolation for Kerala. Krishnaprasad scored 29 runs. Three men were out for zero runs. Rahul Sharma took four wickets for Railways. Himanshu Sangwan and Raj Choudhary and Kan Sharma took two wickets each.
